Do you need a shower or bath, or both? If there are several bathrooms in your home, you may be able to simplify the function of one or more to open space. One of my clients wants a double steam shower instead of bath main bath. This decision created space that he would not use a bath. This client then installed another bath in one of the guest baths reasonable space savings and resale value.
